The perfect cheese board addition: spinach artichoke whipped feta! Ready in 15 minutes using just six ingredients, whipped feta is tangy, salty, creamy, and perfect for dipping!

My love for feta knows no bounds! I love it in salads, in my meatballs, on tacos and even in scones. Whipped feta is yet another fun way to enjoy feta cheese!

Whipped feta is simple to prepare, and works well spread on sandwiches, pizza, or served as a dip!

Adding spinach, artichoke hearts, garlic, and a bit of lemon zest bring great flavors to compliment the briney feta. Watch it disappear at your next party!

Reasons you'll ♡ spinach and artichoke whipped feta

  • it has just 6 ingredients and is ready in 15 minutes
  • you can serve it as a party appetizer or spread it on sandwiches
  • you can prepare it ahead

How to whip feta

To make whipped feta, you will need a food processor (here's my favorite one). A high speed blender *may* work, however I have not personally tried it.

Many whipped feta recipes call for a combination of feta cheese and cream cheese, however for this recipe, I've used ricotta. Ricotta does not get quite as smooth as cream cheese, so if you really want the smooth texture, swap for equivalent amounts of cream cheese.

After blending for 30 seconds and scraping the sides of the food processor down, we are ready to add the rest of our ingredients: garlic, frozen spinach (thawed + pressed), artichoke hearts and lemon zest. Continue blending until smooth to your liking (2-3 minutes).

How to serve it

We love serving whipped feta in a bowl with extra feta cheese crumbles sprinkled over top. It's a great dip for veggies, pita chips, or baguette.

Here are some ways you could serve it:

  • on crostini with grilled or toasted baguette slices
  • serve with crudités or chopped veggies on a cheese platter
  • serve with pita chips or grilled flatbread wedges
  • spread it on a sandwich, wrap or panini
  • use it as a pizza sauce substitute on homemade pizza

Prep ahead and storage tips

Whipped feta can be prepared ahead and enjoyed through the week:

  • store in an air tight container in the fridge
  • store for up to 7 days
  • I do not recommend freezing the dip

Thanks, Tina! I am SUCH a hummus addict! Although, I guess with some of them I'd use the term 'hummus' loosely 😉

Oh this sounds so delish! I agree, I think it would be amazing on a sandwich. But also... on a spoon. Or I might just save some time and faceplant into it. 😉

I just bought some spinach and artichokes to make a hummus this past weekend. But I have to say this whipped feta version sounds incredible! I've never tried whipped feta, but I think that needs to change soon.

You know I think I have all of the ingredients for this already! I love feta in any form or fashion so I know this will be a hit! Whole Foods used to sell a dip kind of similar to this that I was obsessed with but I haven't seen it in ages, I bet this will be even better!

I just love dips. I swear I could make a whole meal out of them and be happy. The worst is at Mexican Restaurants. I go a little overboard with the chips and salsa, and by the time my taco comes I'm just too full. Love the color of this one Denise!

Gahhhh....this dip is speaking straight to my feta-crazy heart! I'm seriously drooling here, Denise! Spinach artichoke dip is one of my favorites but I LOVE how you shook it up and threw whipped feta into the mix. That's a great life choice right there. 😉 So can't wait to try this! XL spoons here I come. 😀
