Are you ready? It's time for the FREEZER MEAL PREP CHALLENGE!
I hope you are as excited as I am to get to work on stocking up the freezer!
What is the Freezer Meal Prep Challenge? We are committing to spending 1-2 hours on the weekend stocking up our freezers for the weeks ahead. You will receive:
- freezer-friendly recipes
- shopping lists
- video prep tutorials to show you how to prep your meals ahead
- access to a Facebook group to keep you motivated (join us here!)
- everything is 100% free!
For the Fall Freezer Meal Prep Challenge, we are going to tackle a different meal each week: dinners (week 1) and lunches (week 2). The goal is to teach you how you can prepare these types of meals ahead to stock up the freezer!
Our first set of recipes & shopping list will be going out next Wednesday, September 4th, and our first prep day is Sunday Sept 8th!
here's the printable menu!
What to expect
- we will spend 1-2 hours each week prepping 3-4 recipes for either dinner (week 1) or lunches (week 2)
- each week you will receive an e-mail with the 3 recipes and a shopping list
- low carb and vegetarian swaps
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Can you explain the dinners? Do we cook them first?
The dinners in this challenge are assembled raw, then frozen. To cook, you will thaw and cook in the slow cooker, Instant Pot, or stove top as directed.
- Can I cook the dinner recipes from frozen?
I have not tested cooking these meals from frozen and highly suggest thawing first. For slow cookers, especially, it is always recommended you thaw before cooking to avoid food safety issues.
- What if I want to skip one of the recipes?
Each recipe has a number corresponding to the ingredients on the shopping list. If you want to skip recipe 2, you can go through the shopping list and cross off any ingredient with the number 2 beside it.
- Are these recipes gluten-free? Low carb? Vegan?
Not always as written, however I will always suggest swaps for these recipes OR link to an alternate recipe where possible.
- Do you provide nutritional information?
I do provide nutritional information, however I want to emphasize that I am not a nutritionist or dietician, and these are strictly estimates calculated using MyFitnessPal, and are not guaranteed to be accurate. See my nutritional disclaimer here.
- Will there be another Lunch Prep Challenge?
YES! I am planning one for January 2020!
- Help! I lost my recipe e-mail!
Don’t worry, I link frequently back to a copy of the recipes used in the challenge posted on my site.
- What storage containers/supplies will we need for the challenge?
Week 1 (dinners)- you will need 3 gallon sized heavy-duty freezer bags (gallon silicone bags or 3 quart meal prep containers will also work). I also love my 3 quart glass meal prep containers from Ikea and my reusable silicone bags (see my shop for links)
Week 2 (lunches)- you will need 13 lunch containers (it's a lot!). I might even have to go get some more. But just think about how good it will feel to have 13 lunches in the freezer!
You will receive your first set of recipes and shopping list on Wednesday, Sept 4. It is up to you to decide when you will do your prep day, and since these are freezer recipes, it doesn't matter! Hurray!
Thank you for joining. I'm so excited to get started and hope you are ready to stock up that freezer!
XO,
