Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups jasmine rice white only
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

after cooking

  • 1 tablespoon butter or coconut oil

Instructions

  • Rinse the rice- Jasmine rice has a lot of starch stuck to the surface, and this can cause it to have an unpleasant texture. Rinsing the rice helps to get rid of extra starch. To rinse, cover the rice with 2 inches of water. Stir or swirl, then carefully decant the water. Repeat 3-4 times, until the water is no longer cloudy.

  • Add ingredients to pot- To the stainless steel insert of your Instant Pot, add the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Make sure the rice is not stuck to the side of the pot, and that it is all submerged in the water.

  • Cook- Place the lid on the Instant Pot, set the steam release handle to the 'sealing' position, then pressure cook on high pressure for 2 minutes. When the Instant Pot beeps, allow for a full natural pressure release (around 15 minutes). When the pin drops, you can open the lid.

  • Fluff up the rice- add in butter or coconut oil, and use a rice paddle to fluff up the rice. Enjoy!
