Frozen Watermelon Margaritas (Watermelon Margranitas)

These frozen watermelon margaritas (or watermelon margranitas) are a fusion of watermelon granitas and watermelon margaritas.  You’re going to LOVE them!

Greetings from stay-cation land!

The kind of holiday that actually feels like a holiday!  After travelling to Vancouver Island with just Kai and I last summer, I discovered a new truth to parenthood.  Holidays with babies aren’t really holidays.  They should most definitely be renamed to ‘travelling’ {or constant keep-away}.  Staying in all kinds of un-baby-proofed places with a newly crawling baby who wants to touch everything was just exhausting.

So this summer, we are staying put.  {We also happen to be saving our $$$ for a fun winter holiday in January to celebrate my finishing school…woo-hoo!}

So for our ‘stay-cation’, we are basically doing all of those things that we always say we’re going to do, but never seem to have time to do!  It’s been so fun!

Frozen Watermelon Margaritas (Watermelon Margranitas)

Yesterday, we took Kai for a ride on the C-train into the city where we explored a new park.  It was so simple (and cheap), and he just loved it!  He’s totally obsessed with the choo-choo now.

Today we explored another park, and we have more plans for splash parks, conservation park (??Ben’s idea), and the zoo!  I am pumped!

We do our fun activity in the morning, then Kai has his nap, and in the late afternoon, we hang out in the back yard and play, sit on our lounge chairs, have a happy hour cocktail (aka: frozen watermelon margaritas!!), and just relax.  It may not sound terribly exciting to some people, but this is just what I needed!

Frozen Watermelon Margaritas (Watermelon Margranitas)

I have had these frozen watermelon margaritas, which I like to call ‘watermelon margranitas’ on my list for a looong time.  Watermelon granitas + tequila and lime.  Mar-granitas (I wish I could take credit for the cool name, but Food Network beat me to it!)

Honestly I didn’t make them sooner because…they just look so fussy.  I thought the whole freezing/scraping part was going to be such a headache, but it really wasn’t!  So easy.  I wish I’d made them sooner because they are all sorts of delicious!  And so refreshing.

Totally in line with our stay-cation.  Easy, refreshing, perfect for summer.

Happy Tuesday!
